– Handmade by me- Yellow Gold Vermeil Hinges Made in Europe – gold over sterling silver 925- 14K Gold Filled Wire- 15.5 carats total in Topaz ( lab made gems) 20mm x 8mm Earrings measure 43mm 1 2/3″ long from top of hinges to bottom of gems December birthstone4th Anniversary Gem I made these gorgeous earrings with dark teal blue topaz drops. There is a hole near the top that the wire goes through so this setting is more secure than it looks. I’ve dropped the gems from sturdy, handmade hinges. These are a medium sized earring that could be worn for any occasion. About Gold Filled: Gold filled is when a layer of gold is pressure bonded to another metal. Gold filled is not to be confused with gold plating as filled literally has 100% more gold than gold plating. Gold filled is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. It does not flake off, rub off or turn colors. As a matter of fact, anyone who can wear gold can wear gold filled without worries of any allergic reaction to the jewelry. Gold filled jewelry is an economical alternative to solid gold! About Vermeil: Vermeil ( for those who don’t know already ) is a term used to describe when a gold layer is fused to sterling silver. The gold is then many times thicker than plating would be. This is a gold choice for anyone with metal allergies. This can be cleaned like any sterling silver by dipping into silver cleaner.
