Handcrafted by the skilled artisans of Artesanas Campesinas, a women owned cooperative in Tecalpulco, Mexico. These earrings are hand cast in alpaca silver and inlaid with a 1” x 1 1/8” Multi-Stone mosaic. Hypo allergenic surgical steel ear wires. 1 7/8” total length. Natural Stone Jewelry Turquoise, lapis, jasper, obsidian, onyx, amethyst & tiger eye are just a few of the semi-precious stones used by the experts at Artesanas Campesinas to create this beautiful jewelry. The Stone or Stone Mosaic pieces are inlaid in Alpaca Silver using traditional silversmithing techniques passed down for generations in this region of Mexico. Alpaca Silver is an alloy that imitates sterling silver, but does not tarnish. This bright silver metal alloy is made up of copper, zinc and nickel. All of these natural materials, including the semi-precious stones, are extracted from the local mountains by artisanal miners. Some pieces receive a Silver Overlay which refers to a heavy pure silver electroplate on the surface of a piece of jewelry, commonly referred to as Silver Plated. Items which are Silver Plated are identified as such in the item specifics above. This jewelry is 100% lead free. All ear wires are hypo allergenic surgical steel.
