Handmade Viking Knit Weave Necklace 925 Sterling Silver with Turquoise beads. The necklace is 17 3/4" long. All components of the necklace are U.S. made Sterling Silver. I made this using the ancient technique called Viking Weave or Viking Knit. The wire is woven around a wooden dowel. Examples of this chain work have been found in Silver hoards and Viking burials from 700 to 800 A.D. The Vikings used the chain for jewelry, clothing decoration, currency & trade. To make this type of chain work the sterling wire is handwoven around a wooden dowel and then lengthened by pulling it thru a draw plate.
