The face of the ring is crafted with the St. Francis of Assisi portrait who was an Italian Catholic friar, deacon and preacher. He later became associated with patronage of animals and the natural environment. In 1224 he received the stigmata on his wrists and bear the wounds of Christ’s Passion. On both sides of the ring, there is a symbol of two hands with wounds on the wrists. In Christianity “Stigmata” are the appearance of bodily wounds, scars, and pain in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ, such as the hands, wrists, and feet.
